I got the creative sound card driver for vista and tried to install it. I got an error message that I needed to upgrade to vista, because i had an older verson of windows. How can I get vista to let me install the sound card driver for vista? -- John Arnett

vista driver not compatible with vista
Could you possibly post here the brand and the model of your card? What is the drivers version? Where did you get the drivers? On CD? If it is from the Web, can you provide a link please?

This means that: 1) There is something wrong with your Vista installation in general, if it is not recognized as the default OS by the Creative driver. Or, it means: 2) Something is definitely wrong with the Creative driver if it won't recognize your default OS. Possibly, you got a bad download of the driver. Try redownloading it.

I have the same problem with GeForce 6800 card. The older driver identifies the OS as "Longhorn ()" although I run the latest 5384 Beta 2 build. The drivers must be looking at different parts of OS to identify the version. Valery
